Lecture n°1: Wednesday, October 16th: 11:30am - 12:05pm

Disputes: what is the compensation about?
When faced with damage to the goods or loss, a first question arises: what will the claim for compensation focus on? Selling price? Cost price? Transport included or not? And, can we add collateral damage: site or chain stoppage, penalties imposed by the recipient, etc.? So many questions where the answers are not always those you think.

Coasting Trade and secondment: what will change?

On April 4th, the European Parliament adopted several measures amending the rules on the secondment of lorry drivers and the conditions governing the exercise of cabotage. These measures will affect the way in which foreign carriers will be able to carry out transport operations on national territory. The conditions for using a foreign carrier in a charter operation will be significantly modified. As a result, shippers and forwarders will be confronted with new practices in this area

Traceability and blockchain in transport

Historically motivated by public health (food, medicines, etc.) or safety (aviation) issues, traceability has become a social issue in recent years, with consumers demanding greater transparency from brands. However, many technical constraints make this traceability much more complex to implement than it seems, since it is necessary to orchestrate the dissemination of information relating to the context of the product to all actors in the value chain, throughout its life cycle and without breaks. Blockchain technology has many advantages to overcome these problems and improve traceability in transport.

Why you should qualify your transport suppliers?

The commitment to a safer supply chain and the tightening of the law on the legal liability of companies has raised a growing awareness of exercising greater control over subcontracted suppliers, especially in the area of documentation. Faced with this situation, many companies have decided to develop internal approval procedures or opt for solutions that manage these processes. We analyse the advantages for companies of qualifying their transport suppliers.
